Deep Hunger

Psalm 63:1 (The Message)

God—you’re my God! I can’t get enough of you! I’ve worked up such hunger and thirst for God, traveling across dry and weary deserts. 2-4 So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory. In your generous love I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountains. I bless you every time I take a breath; My arms wave like banners of praise to you.

Dad.... when are we gonna eat... I'M STARVING!!!!!!!   Chances are :

1. You have said this
2. You have had someone say something like this to you :-)

Obviously having a little fun to make a point.  We've all been hungry, some way more than others and when you finally get that meal, it satisfies like nothing else.  But to be hungry and stay hungry is something completely different.  I'm reading a book right now and this quote really spoke to me:

“Worship does not satisfy our hunger for God-it whets our appetite. Our need for God is not taken care of by engaging in worship-it deepens.”
― Eugene H. Peterson, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction: Discipleship in an Instant Society

I have been seeking the Lord personally for a deeper experience with Him.  I read many scriptures about it over the years and I am re-reading them, digesting them, seeking them.... But one of the ones I quoted here today really speaks volumes.

There is not a magic song, a spiritual wave of the hands in the air, a clapping pattern, a shout of some phrase, a kneeling posture, a jump for joy that can satisfy our need for God.... Oh.. they can be great a moments.. But it's beyond those short moments I'm talking about.

It's about rhythm. It's about a continuance of pressing in.. It's about a deep hunger.

Are you in a "I can't get enough of you" kind of relationship with God? Are you finding yourself drinking in his strength and glory? Do your lips brim praises like fountains?

That's a lot to consider in such a short blog today and a challenge I am facing myself.

Friends, I want to encourage you today to ask yourself what kind of deep hunger you have in your life. When a person is starving.. And I really mean starving this time.... Bugs look appetizing. That's hungry!  I am looking at myself and asking the same question I am asking you... What are you hungry for??

Don't be afraid to press in, don't be shy when you're alone in a room, above all and in all, understand #GodsGotThis
